The Buzz about Books!
Come join us for an exciting adventure with books !! Each month will revolve around a different theme and club time will be spent doing a great variety of literacy building activities!! Making reading fun while incorporating different genres, story elements, skills and strategies will increase reading enjoyment and fluency.
Book Clubs can be a great opportunity to engage children in books they may otherwise not read. Clubs provide a fun, interactive and non-threatening way to improve overall reading. Since Book Club is a group activity, it's also a helpful way to encourage children in their public-speaking abilities. The varied activities used in Club are a useful way of having children discuss and think about the stories they're reading and strengthen engagement while broadening understanding and drawing connections.
Drawing upon a her skill as a reading specialist and many years of experience in teaching reading at all levels while making it exciting and fun, Kim Herron will engage, entertain, and challenge your child!

Worship Through Dance
Worship Through Dance Spring 2012
Dance 1, Fridays, 3-4 p.m. (K-3rd)
Dance 2, Friday, 2-3 p.m. (3rd -6th)
The worship dance class for girls is taught with a desire to see God redeem the art of dance and sanctify it for use in the Church, while celebrating His glory. With emphasis on modesty and a desire to draw attention to Christ, not ourselves, through His gift of movement.
Each Worship Dance class includes some aspect of the following elements:
- Basic Ballet Technique -
- A portion of the class is devoted to learning fundamental ballet positions & steps
- Interpretive Movement -
- This element involves learning to express the lyrics through facial expressions and movements. Dramatic expression is one of the most powerful ways to relay a message. In this way, the song's meaning can have a greater impact.
- Free Dance -
- Many times in scripture, people used dance as a means of personal praise & worship. We encourage students to follow their example by giving them the opportunity to use the steps they have learned to personally express their love for the Lord.
- Devotions -
- An intimate relationship with our Heavenly Father is the first step to ministry, and therefore a portion of class time will be devoted to Bible study, discussion and prayer.
- Choreography -
- Every Worship Dance class will learn a dance for the presentation at the end of the session.
The above elements are very important to each class. Yet, the main focus remains on teaching the students to express their love for the Father through movement and dance.
“Let them praise his name with dancing, making melody to him with tambourine and lyre!” Psalm 149:3
