Grace Covenant Youth Orchestra
Spring Enrollment: Auditions can be scheduled throught the end of January for our spring season.
The Grace Covenant Youth Orchestra and the Grace Notes Ensemble are open to students from Christian families in the NorthTexas area. While not required to take any other classes at GCA, orchestra students do need to apply online and be admitted to GCA. A discount on fees is offered to students enrolling only in orchestra. The GCYO serves Christian families from home school, private schools, and public schools in addition to students enrolled in other GCA classes.
Grace Notes- Conducted by Caitlin Smith, a 2nd year viola major at UNT, this is a beginning string ensemble for students who have mastered the very basics of the violin, viola, cello, or bass. They would typically be about half way through a level one methods book or through Suzuki Book 1. The music for this group is arranged specifically for the abilities of the students who particpate. Rehearsals are Thursdays from 4:00-5:00 p.m.
Grace Covenant Youth Orchestra- Conducted by Joseph Lozovyy, this orchestra is open to string, percussion, and keyboardists. Most players audition after they have mastered the songs in a Suzuki Book 1 or Year 1 methods book. Many players in this orchestra are much further along and new players are given some grace as they work beside students who may be more advanced, but they are expected to work hard to learn the songs and to come to orchestra with the assigned portions of each song ready to perform. Players are expected to be in private lessons and to also spend time working on the orchestral songs each day at home. We seek to honor God by working to a high level of excellence. Rehearsals are Thursdays from 3:55-5:15.
