Consider a summer mission trip
Upper School Students, opportunities abound for using your summer in a productive way for the Lord! At our Monday assembly meeting, Upper School students learned about their peers going on mission trips this summer.
GCA students will go to Honduras, Zambia, Nigeria, South Africa, United Kingdom and Camp Barnabas to build roads, evangelize, perform as a choir, dig a water well and help children with mental disabilities enjoy summer camp.
Mission trips help us discover who God has made us to be, and help us rely on God in a way that few other experiences do. Pray for God to show you the right opportunity for you, trust Him with the details and GO!
Record service hours in ParentsWeb
Beginning the summer after 8th grade, each student should record his or her own hours spent volunteering in various capacities. All those service hours add up and will appear on the high school transcript that prospective colleges and universities receive.
Here is how to document your service hours (volunteer hours): In ParentsWeb, go to Family Information; choose the student; select SERVICE HOURS from the menu at the top of the page; select ADD SERVICE HOURS.
You should include more detail on your resume that will accompany your college transcript when you apply to college. Start building your resume on a Google doc now! Helpful Hint: Mission trips are a GREAT way to get a lot of service hours!
Seniors & 8th graders will graduate.
